For the 3rd year in a row, the Durham District School Board has asked Empty Cup Media to shoot a report/documentary for their Artist in Residence program. The program is funded by the Ontario Arts Council and ArtsSmarts as well as a few other key individuals and was created for the benefit of students grades 7-12. The AIR program takes local artists and pairs them up with a teacher. The duo then creates a lesson plan to deliver core curriculum through the medium of the artist. (i.e. learning history through drama, math through dance, English through quilting etc.)

The purpose of the video we madeĀ is to showcase what the DDSB is doing with the AIR program, and to demonstrate how the program’s efforts are translating to students being engaged in class, attending class and behaving in class.

We have distributed more than 50 copies of the double disc (main disc and special features) across Ontario to different school boards, staff, OAC and other interested individuals and businesses.
This video is just a short clip of the whole report – the full length is 31 minutes. The music selection was approved by the record label by the DDSB. (The video is still large so please give it some time to buffer before watching).
