When Covid-19 hit Oshawa and a lot of the downtown businesses were heavily impacted, the Region of Durham launched the website www.downtownsofdurham.ca to promote downtown businesses. The site has information on businesses from 13 downtowns in Durham Region and how they have modified their services. You can learn which companies deliver, do curb side pick up and if you can order online.
Colin visited 8 downtowns over a week to get shots of the core and record some sound bites from local business owners. He used his boom pole and shotgun mic to capture the audio without any contact with the interviewee. Durham has some really beautiful downtowns. Colin’s favorites are Port Perry, Uxbridge, Bowmanville and Beaverton. Take a walk near the 4-corners of your downtown and buy something!
