05 May Oshawa Celebrates 2021
The City of Oshawa usually hosts their “Oshawa Celebrates” New Years Eve event at Delpark Community Centre but because of Covid they were forced to cancel the in person event. Like many other events had to do in 2020, they hosted an online event instead. They hired Empty Cup Media to film 5 different performances, an MC and a message from Mayor Dan Carter to be edited into a 54 minute broadcast ready video. Colin was lucky to get a private viewing from Soper Creek, Magic Man, Jungle Jack and The Fire Guy over the course of a few weeks.
We filmed the acts in three different locations: Delpark Community Centre, the Arts Resource Centre and the Oshawa Recreation Complex. Colin had lots of space to bring his huge overhead lighting system and his DJ uplights to turn the rooms into a colourful film set. The final video was aired on Rogers Television so that young families could do a New Years count down before the wee ones had to go to bed.
